Tamkhi - Baryasha

This cult place is located near the motorway Kultuk - Mondy, near the village of Shimki. The original sculptural composition in the form of a smoking pipe is established here. In translation from the Buryat language Tamkhi - Baryasha means ?to bring tobacco.

The place, as well as Burkhan - Baabay, is connected to the name of Khan Shargay-Noyon. The legend describes how he was sitting on the mountain Bajtog, protecting western border of Tunka from the invasion of the Khalkha- Mongols. There always was a pipe with him which he smoked laying in quiet rest-hours. He always did so and after fight with enemies.

The outlines of the mountain Bajtog really remind the laying person. It is located precisely opposite Tamkhi √ Baryasha. This place is esteemed by local people as one of the places where Shargay √ Noyon is. There is a tradition to make a stop in this place, to sit for a while, to think, to smoke, to leave Shargay - Noyon any gift and to ask him blessing for a long journey. It is believed to bring good luck to travellers.
