The State national Wildlife Park "Tunkinsky"
The State national Wildlife Park of “tunkinsky” was founded according to the decree of the Council of Ministers of RSFSR №91 from 13.05.1991. Its borders coincided with borders of Tunkinsky region of the Republic of Buryatia.
35 settlements are situated on the territory of the park and about 25 thousand people live in them. According to the Regulations about national park the tasks of the park are:
- the preservations of integrity of landscapes, unique natural complexes;
- the preservations of monuments of history, culture and other objects of cultural heritage;
- creations of conditions for regulated ecological tourism and rest in natural conditions;
- creations of favorable conditions for traditional wildlife management of population in Tunkinskaya valley with maintenance of safety of the natural environment of the park and its biological resources;
- development and introduction of scientific methods of preservations of natural complexes and objects under the conditions of their recreational use;
- restorations of the lost ceremonies, rituals, customs, traditions of natives of Tunkinskaya valley – the Tunkinsky buryats and Cossacs;
- the organizations of ecological education of the population and visitors of the park;
- realization of measures for protection of woods and caring of them, for improvement of condition of inhabiting and reproduction of the ground and water fauna, for ecological regulation of number of animals and birds, a biomass of fishes in water reservoirs on optimum for a park level;
- the organization and conducting ecological monitoring.
The territory of the park is divided into zones.
- They are a zone of a custom-made regime,
- a zone of economic assignment,
- a health-improving zone,
- a zone of serving visitors,
- a zone of cognitive tourism
- and recreational use.
Several projects supported by the international funds – sponsors were fulfilled on the territory of the park, their purpose was creation of normal condition for recreation and introduction of modern technologies of ecological tourism. The park participates in various actions, including an annual International march of parks.
There is the order of visiting park established by “the Regulations about state national Wildlife Park”, the fee is taken for entrance, and the department of recreating of the park renders additional services to tourists. The visiting-information center works in the building of Administration of the park. The representatives of the park participate in all regional tourist exhibitions.
Natural resourses of The Tunkinsky National Park
The territory of Tunkinsky National Park included Okino-Sayanskaya mountainous-taiga-ridged And Khamar-Dabanskaya mountainous-taiga-hollow zones of the South-Siberian mountainous area.
The fauna of park is rich and various. Animals and birds whose area of spread is typical for steppes, mountains and a taiga inhabited this place. They are suslic, pitschukha, fox, sable, squirrel, muskrat, columns, elk, roe, kabarga, wild bull, blackcock, wood grouse, partridge, kedrovka, soyka, woodpecker, the Siberian mountain goat, northern deer.
Among rare and disappearing species of animals are otter, baloban, big padorlik, Altay ural, eared owl, splyushka, klyushitsa, ordinary adder, sharp-muzzled frog. At present there are more than 310 kinds of the vertebrate animal referring to 5 classes, including – fishes (more than 10 species), amphibious (more than 4 species), reptiles (5 species), birds (237 species), mammals (54 species).
From them 48 species are included in the Red Book of Buryatia and 9 species in the Red Book of Russia. They are a black stork, an eagle – dolgokhvost (longtailed), scopa, Altay ural, Kasatka, kronshnep, osoed khokhlaty, pogonish-crumb, grey heron, wood grouse, tundra partridge, big bittern, hoopoe, bullfinch, swallow stone. In opinion of researchers, the territory of the park deserves the status of “Basic ornithological territory of Asia” as the fauna of birds of birds has a significant variety of species.
Among mammals 54 species are known belonging to 6 groups. 10 of them are rare as the snow leopard that is included into the Red Book, also akhar, red wolf and Siberian mountain goat.
The territory of the park is also inhabited by hunting species of animals as a muskrat, a longtailed suslik, wild bull (izubr), a kabarga, a roe, a white hair, a laska. One is allowed to hunt them only if he has licenses.
The vegetation of the park is various, all forests are referred to the forest of the 1-st group. The sorts of a cedar and a larch prevail. It is possible to meet various kinds of rare and disappearing plants on the territory of the park as small krasodnev, peony, Maryin root, Tangut borts, a buttercup sayansky, rodiola pink, kargana maned, sea-buckthorn berries krushinovaya, mannageteya of Gomel, rhododendron Daursky.
