The Buryat National Academic House of Opera and Ballet

The Buryat National Academic House of Opera and Ballet was established in 1949. Since then the theatre has staged a large variety of performances of Russian, Buryat and world musical art. Many outstanding workers of opera and ballet art have contributed greatly to the development of its traditions. The theatre is well known by its dancers and singers. It has been a laboratory for creating national opera and ballet, the advocate of the best works of Russian and world classical art. The repertoire of the theatre is varied and includes performances to satisfy sophisticated interests of its admirers. The theatre has been assigned the status of the specially valuable Russian cultural heritage object.

The Buryat National Academic Drama Theatre named after Khotsa Namsaraev

The repertoire of the theatre includes performances of Buryat, Russian and world playwrights in Buryat, and Russian languages.

National Dance and Song Theatre “Baikal”

The repertoire of the theatre has musical performances and concerts representing the art of dancing of both Buryat people and other nations where talented Buryat youth express themselves in folk dance and music. Theatre is also an orchestra of Buryat folk instruments in the theatre. The theatre has got the status of the specially valuable cultural heritage object of people of the Republic of Buryatia.

The Russian National Drama Theatre named after N. Bestuzhev

It is the first professional theatre of the republic of Buryatia established in 1928 on the basis of the Moscow organizational theatre of International Red Stadium. Since then it has performed plays of the Russian and world classics as well as those of Buryat playwrights. The theatre took part in the international CIS festivals of Russian drama art, toured all over Russia, Caucasus, Belorussia and the USA.

Youth Art Theatre

Established in 1980 it has lead the movement of new independent Russian theatres. Its premises represent a unique cultural center with its arts exhibitions, artistic and public events, It stages performances and concert programs, arranges youth activities. It has produced more than 500 performances. Its credo is to find modern in classical and classical in modern.

Republican Puppet Theatre “Ulger”

Republican Puppet Theatre “Ulger” was established in 1967 году. Besides plays of Russian and world playwrights there is a special place for performances of Buryat playwrights in its repertoire. The theatre maintains contacts with young auditorium through its tours and meetings with actors.
